Weekly MA Senate Debate/Town Hall
Ask the Candidates Your Questions

Ask and vote on the questions you want to ask the Massachusetts Senatorial candidates. No media bias, no "scheduling conflicts," no need to limit answers to sound bites... in short--no excuses, just the questions that are important to you. We're asking that candidates answer at least one question from the top ten every week. You can help by contacting the candidates (links to the left) and letting them know that you want them to praticipate in the communityCOUNTS forum. More importantly, add your own question(s).

Also, if you're on twitter, please sign these act.ly petitions: Scott Brown, Michael Capuano, Martha Coakley, Alan Khazei (committed), Stephen Pagliuca, and Jack E. Robinson (committed).

The late Senator Kennedy was a strong supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment, giving American women equal legal status in the Constitution.

Mike Capuano and Martha Coakley have committed to continuing the fight for the ERA if elected.

Can the other two candidates make the same commitment to continue Senator Kennedy's fight for the ERA?

Can all four candidates please describe steps they would make toward getting the Equal Right Amendment into the Constitution once and for all?

We always knew where Ted Kennedy stood, where his moral compass was, that his principles were not for sale regardless of the effectove across-the-aisle deals and friendships he made. His passions vision transcended the politics of any term or policy issue. We knew we could trust that, that he wouldn't compromise for the whims of polling data.

What is the vision you would bring to the Senate floor? What are the passions that are driving you to seek this office?

The US Military budget is astronomical. This is never addressed in mainstream corporate-run press, which seems to ignore it in other stories about debt/deficit, other spending.

What are your views on military spending and the military budget?

By & large, Americans are disgusted by politics & feel utterly disconnected from the doings in Washington.

There are many examples that suggest they are correct!

And yet, w/ Obama's campaign, many people became meaningfully engaged in the political process for the 1st time. And many of THEM are now disgusted that "change we need" not happening (Afgh) or getting stuck in Congress (health care reform).

What's your vision for reconnecting MA citizens to politics, making Washington work for us?

What is your position on the Cape Wind project, the offshore wind farm proposed for the shoals between the Cape and Islands? It has been struggling with permits since 2001 and Kennedy was its biggest opponent. Will you support this project for permitting and construction if you are elected?

** Video and text questions are randomly selected, and then the two lists are combined to highlight the different media options available.
Currently the two lists are extraordinarily different in size, which means that the same video questions will show up with greater frequency
than their text counterparts as they come from a smaller pool of questions.
