The identity forum has been convened by the Safeguarding Digital Identity research project (http://www.thei3p.org) and other Digital Identity thought leaders.

Several goals in the Obama-Biden technology agenda articulated at change.gov relate to our research project and the occupy the mindshare of thought leaders, especially: Create a Transparent and Connected Democracy and Lower Health Care Costs by Investing in Electroninc Information Technology Systems.

The goal of the identity forum is to compile and present to the Obama-Biden administration a prioritized list of issues, problems and questions regarding the use of Digital Identity as a key enabler of how to Create a Transparent and Connected Democracy and Electronic Health Care IT Systems that are open, effective, privacy preserving and secure.

On January 15, 2009 from 1-5PM (Boston time) at the MIT Media Lab, a Digital Identity panel (as well as others) will convene to finalize what we’re presenting and how we’re presenting it to the administration (refer to http://ecitizenfoundation.org). You can use the identity forum to virtually be there.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I submit content?
This forum pulls questions from multiple websites depending upon the moderator's choice. Anyone with access to these sources can submit content if the moderator allows it. If this forum's moderator has allowed this, look for a "SUBMIT ENTRY" link above.

How do I find my content once it's added?
Enter your username or the title of your content in the "Search" box on this forum's main page.

How do I find content I'm interested in?
Go to the Search box on this forum's main page and type in a word or words that relate to your interest. If someone has used that word as a tag, it will pull up this content.

How do I share content with others so they may vote on it?
You can click on either of the two "share" links. The first is an envelope above the content that lets you email friends. The second allows you to share over an assortment of social forums like Facebook. You can also embed content in a webpage or blog by using the "Embed" code found below the content. Even if it is not your content, you can use these tools if it is one you want to share with others.

My content isn't showing up; what could be wrong?
Some moderators may hold new entries for review before adding them to the page.

How do I vote on content?
You may vote content up or down by clicking either on the thumbs up or thumbs down icons above the content. If you don't have an opinion, don't vote.

For Q&As: How do I vote on the respondent's answer?
Once answers start to come, in they will be visible under the "Answers" tab. If you think a reply actually answered the question, click the thumbs up. If you think it did not, click the thumbs down. If you don't have an opinion, don't vote.

Can I vote multiple times for the same question?
No. Visitors can vote on as many entries as they like, but only one vote will be allowed per IP address.

What's to stop organized groups from "gaming" the system?
You. CommunityCOUNTS is entirely egalitarian. If a group can mobilize its supporters to vote for an entry en masse, their topic will benefit. However, the larger the number of overall participants, the more representative the top content. Additionally, votes are limited to one vote per IP address.

What does the little red flag mean?
The little red flag is a catch-all for spam or problematic videos. You can flag videos for administrative attention if you think they are spam, broken, or inappropriate by clicking on that red circle.

Why is there a Flagged tab?
Content that the moderator has identified as spam is never removed from the site. It is only moved and can be found under the flagged tab. This way it's entirely clear what it means for a video to be spam. If you think a video has been improperly categorized as spam, click on the green flag to bring it to the moderator's attention.

How do I know my vote was counted?
When you vote on a content, the counts below should change to reflect this. If they do not, it means your IP address has already cast a vote for that video. If you are using a shared computer, it is possible someone has already used it to vote. Additionally, if you are sharing an internet connection, your local area network may not distinguish between individual computers, providing communityCOUNTS with a single IP. If this is the case, consider voting from somewhere else.

How do I contact a person about this forum?
A forum's moderator can be reached by clicking on the "Contact" link at the bottom of any forum page.
